Our TWINDICATOR® is a single-use, dual-cycle, steam sterilization indicator which will accurately monitor the conditions necessary for sterilization in 121°C gravity displacement and 132ºC, 134°C and 135ºC pre-vacuum steam cycles.
This indicator undergoes a color change from white-cream to black color as it measures the effects of saturated steam, exposure temperature and time of exposure – the three critical variables for steam sterilization. The unique reactive indicator ink is printed as a line along the whole length of the strip. This provides multiple point monitoring, increasing the possibility of identifying micro-environments where suitable sterilization conditions may not have been achieved. Twindicator® is preferable for use in larger packs, trays, pouches or other packaging materials, which may have uneven distribution of steam parameters inside. For use in smaller packages, or to monitor attainment of sterilization conditions in different areas of a pack, Twindicator® can be torn on the perforation into two smaller identical strips.
The indicator is an index paper strip imprinted with a steam-sensitive indicator ink. Each indicator strip measures 20.0 ± 0.3 cm (7 15/16 ±1/8 inches) long by 1.4 ±0.2 cm (9/16 ±1/16 inches) wide, perforated at the midpoint for easy separation into two half-length segments when economy is required or the item being monitored is small. The ink imprint is a white/cream color bar approximately 0.3 cm (1/8 inch) wide running midline along the entire length of the strip. On each strip, the word TWINDICATOR® is printed in black. This color serves as a reference color for evaluation of the indicator color change. All other printing on the strip is red.
Twindicator® is a Multi-variable steam Indicator and complies with ISO 11140-1:2014, Type 4 performance requirements.
